NSW Premier Chris Minns has ordered his most senior public servant to probe planning decisions in Newcastle’s Broadmeadow precinct, after raising concerns local MP Tim Crakanthorp could have used his public position for personal benefit regarding family properties in the area.
Acting cabinet office secretary Peter Duncan will urgently review a slew of planning processes in the Hunter region, and in Newcastle in particular, following revelations Mr Crakanthorp’s wife and parents-in-law owned a significant property portfolio in the area set for redevelopment.
