A long disused, dilapidated and trashed former Cancer Council building in central Melbourne is a prime example of the underutilised but well-located sites that the Victorian government wants to develop into more homes.
Premier Jacinta Allan and Planning Minister Sonya Kilkenny on Thursday announced the next 25 “activity centres” to be targeted as part of Labor’s plan to develop 300,000 homes by 2051, including areas within 10 minutes of train stations in inner suburbs like South Yarra, Prahran, Brunswick and Thornbury.
