Libs look to convert, not beat, Spender

Influential Liberal Party figures hope to persuade Wentworth MP Allegra Spender to join their partyroom in the “medium term”, unconvinced it will be possible to wrest the once safe Sydney seat away from her.

Three sources close to internal discussions, speaking on condition of anonymity as party rules prohibit commenting on those deliberations, said the Liberal Party’s moderate faction considered it possible to recruit Ms Spender, who was elected at the 2022 election, after the next federal poll.
