The housing industry has called on the NSW government to speed up approval times for three- to six-storey mid-rise apartments to within three months in a bid to dent the housing affordability crisis.

That could be enacted by fast-tracking approval for mid-rise apartments that follow pattern designs or through broader changes to the planning system, which are being negotiated with the NSW opposition.
