Business groups welcomed the appointment of Jaclyn Symes as Victoria’s new treasurer in a wider-than-expected reshuffle by Premier Jacinta Allan that stamps her authority on cabinet and seeks to reset Labor’s battered relations with industry and its reputation for managing the economy.
“I like fixing things,” Ms Symes declared on Thursday after being sworn in as successor to Tim Pallas, who stepped down days earlier after a decade as treasurer in the Andrews and Allan governments.
