Gillard is right: Gender equality must mean no man left behind
The former PM’s view that decades of advocacy has felt exclusory is a challenge to invite men and boys to be part of this conversation
Susan Lloyd-HurwitzCEWFormer prime minister Julia Gillard says we need to reshape the campaign for gender equality, as our decades of advocacy have “clearly landed in a way that is felt as exclusionary or diminishing” for many. She says she is driven by her deeply held conviction that a gender-equal world will be better for everyone.
“We have got to be self-critical and analytical about our obvious inability to take young men, in particular, on the journey with us,” she said in The Australian newspaper on the weekend.
