America’s COVID-19-fighter-in-chief has praised Australia’s coronavirus response, saying the country has led the world on containment and management of emerging variants.

Dr Anthony Fauci, the director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Australia’s approach to lockdowns had successfully stopped outbreaks in a way the United States had never done.
