The shadow of the Reserve Bank will hang over next week’s federal budget after Governor Michele Bullock said on Tuesday the RBA could not rule out another interest rate hike.

“If we really think that inflation is going to be persistent and significantly above our forecasts, we will tighten again,” she said, adding that the central bank would be looking at the budget closely.
