Messages sent to journalist Samantha Maiden in the days after she broke news of Brittany Higgins’ alleged rape in Parliament House have been aired in court, with the senior reporter describing one text she received as “inappropriate”.

A series of texts and audio recordings involving Ms Maiden were read out in Western Australia’s Supreme Court on Wednesday, including a message she received from Ms Higgins’ now-husband, David Sharaz, saying: “Journalism hat on, what a f---ing scoop ha ha.”
