West Australian Premier Roger Cook says federal Labor must ramp up engagement with the state’s mining giants over divisive environmental reforms and called on the Coalition to ensure the laws do not reach a Senate vote before industry has its say.

Senior WA mining sources speaking on the condition of anonymity say the industry remained completely in the dark on Friday afternoon over key details of the Nature Positive reforms that were unexpectedly revived this week, describing government engagement as “sparse”.
