Anthony Albanese’s claim that China provided notification its warships would carry out live-firing drills in the Tasman Sea has been undermined by revelations that Australian authorities only found out because of a tip from a Virgin pilot almost 30 minutes into the exercise.
The Chinese warships re-entered Australia’s exclusive economic zone on Tuesday morning and were being tracked by the Defence Department just 296 kilometres east of Hobart.
