Claims of NSW bias are ‘nonsense’, says PM

The federal government has rejected claims by Victoria that it was playing favourites with NSW, furnishing data which shows Victorians have received a disproportionate amount of financial assistance over the past year due to its extensive lockdowns.

After the Andrews government angrily accused Scott Morrison of double standards in response to the aid package announced for NSW on Tuesday, the federal government said support for Victorians had been higher than for other Australians during the pandemic.
