Uni student caps ‘dramatically bad for the economy’
Leading universities will have their revenues slashed by $1.1 billion next year as 22,000 new overseas students are cut from their enrolments by government caps, while additional places allocated to regional universities are unlikely to be filled.
Economist Warwick McKibbin said the “absurdity of [caps] is extraordinary”, adding that they could be “dramatically bad for the economy”.
