Daniel Andrews has been put forward to join the Monash University Council in his first post-political appointment, and the former Victorian premier has been spotted in New York as he plots his future career.

Speculation over Mr Andrews’ next roles came as another 500 Victorian public servants learnt on Thursday they are set to lose their job, including up to 220 roles at the Department of Jobs and 300 more at the Health Department, while new Premier Jacinta Allan looks to repay the state’s record debt.
