Trump ‘smiling’ about US beef exports as Nats step up review demands

Canberra/Washington | The Nationals have stepped up their demands for an independent assessment of this week’s decision to lift biosecurity restrictions on US beef imports after President Donald Trump personally claimed credit for the move.

Trump, who on “liberation day” in April directly cited the ban on US beef as justification for his imposition of a 10 per cent tariff on every Australian import, said on Friday he had paved the way to flood Australia with US beef.
