One of Australia’s top foreign affairs and intelligence experts is set to become Scott Morrison’s next cabinet secretary, giving him input into all aspects of the cabinet, including national security and budget deliberations.
Andrew Shearer, who is currently deputy director-general of the Office of National Intelligence, will soon be appointed to the position that has been held variously over the years by either a politician serving as an effective minister, or a senior bureaucrat.
