What is the best career advice you have been given?

I’m pretty sure it was John Daly [inaugural chief executive of centrist think tank The Grattan Institute] who introduced me to the 80:20 rule; the idea that 80 per cent of your output comes from 20 per cent of your effort. That to me was such a powerful tool [to] thinking about how you prioritise, remain productive, and get the most impact for the work you put in.
