Deputy prime minister Richard Marles is leading a push by Labor’s Victorian Right faction to strip its NSW counterpart of a ministry which, if successful, would force the demotion of either Chris Bowen, Tony Burke, Jason Clare or Ed Husic.
As Anthony Albanese grapples with accommodating the demands created by Labor’s expanded numbers in parliament, it was confirmed on Tuesday that Tanya Plibersek would remain in cabinet but would not necessarily retain her environment portfolio.
