If we have learnt anything in the last decade it is this: no election is unlosable. Every national election is hard fought, and the margin of victory most frequently tight.
The golden rule of Australian politics still applies. Outside of wartime, every federal election is a referendum on the economy. Elections held during COVID-19 will be no different, including in our states and territories. Incumbency will undoubtedly be a factor. Yet the key national questions facing voters will be: who has the more credible plan to lead the recovery, to protect and create jobs, lift wages, and tackle mountainous debt?
