Apprentices could get a modest pay bump and be better treated in the workplace to encourage them to complete their trades training and ease labour shortages.

Skills Minister Brendan O’Connor told the National Press Club on Tuesday a review was under way into supports provided to apprentices to try to fix high dropout rates.
