Welfare recipients, small and medium businesses, and tourism and other virus-hit business will be among the biggest beneficiaries of the Morrison government's $17.6 billion stimulus package to stave off a coronavirus recession.
Of that money, $11 billion will be spent before June 30, adding 1.5 per cent to economic growth for the June quarter, which, assuming the March quarter contracts, the government needs to keep positive to avoid recession.
