Stick to the national plan or pay the price, PM tells states
State leaders who renege on the national plan to reopen the economy and continue with lockdowns and border closures will be breaching a deal with the people and should not expect ongoing Commonwealth financial support, the federal government has warned.
With at least two premiers, including Western Australia’s Mark McGowan, indicating they may continue to pursue hardline measures even after an 80 per cent vaccination rate was achieved, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said they alone would be accountable to their voters.
