Ash Barty’s historic Wimbledon victory has secured the 25-year-old’s place in the Australian sporting pantheon, with the world number one now on track to disrupt Serena Williams’ attempt at the all-time record for major singles titles.
Barty paid tribute to her mentor Evonne Goolagong Cawley, after a thrilling three-set win against Karolina Pliskova in the early hours of Sunday, Australian time.
