Parsing the politics of corruption

Polls put Anthony Albanese on track for majority government but minor party and independent preferences are more uncertain – along with the definition of corruption to be adopted by a new federal commission.

It’s probably fortunate for both the Coalition and Labor that the leaders’ debate on Sunday night didn’t attract a larger audience.

The shambolic squabbling between Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese would only have encouraged more viewers to vote for minor parties and independents, compounding the disenchantment with the offerings of the major parties.
