Scott Morrison will join former US government heavyweights in the global strategic advisory business after calling time on his political career and paving the way for a second federal byelection early this year.

Mr Morrison, who has held the NSW Sutherland Shire seat of Cook since 2007, will leave parliament at the end of February.
