Rudd, Chalmers, Farrell lock in US talks in race for tariff carve-out

The Albanese government has escalated its lobbying of the White House to spare Australian exports from tariffs, amid a desire to settle the matter before the election is called.

The tariffs on steel and aluminium are scheduled to start on March 12 and speculation is rife Anthony Albanese will call an election just days before, for an April 12 vote.
