Public hearing fight looms on anti-corruption commission bill

Labor’s National Anti-Corruption Commission legislation looks set to pass parliament before Christmas, but key crossbench advocates have flagged a renewed fight over the threshold for public hearings.

A parliamentary committee considering Labor’s legislation to establish the new body unanimously recommended MPs pass two bills on Thursday, making six recommendations including on protection of journalists’ sources and the changes to the definition of corrupt conduct at the federal level.
