PM homes in on supply to fix housing crisis
National cabinet will ignore calls for market intervention and focus on ways to remove bureaucratic hurdles to new housing supply, in an approach not dissimilar to that of the housing accord the Rudd government struck with the states 15 years ago.
With all states and territories except the ACT and Victoria ruling out either rent caps or freezes, as being demanded by the Australian Greens, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed supply measures would be the focus of the meeting to be held in Brisbane on Wednesday.
