PM considers ADF to help solve aged care crisis

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has left open the possibility of sending Australian Defence Force personnel into aged care homes to help tackle acute workforce shortages, acknowledging the country’s omicron-hit aged care sector is in crisis.

As health experts predict more deaths in residential homes and a wave of winter deaths from omicron and flu, Mr Morrison said he had asked Defence Minister Peter Dutton and Health Minister Greg Hunt to consider how the ADF could further assist.
