NSW recorded 644 new cases and four new deaths. The state extended its lockdown until September and announced tighter controls.
There are 27 new cases in regional NSW, 21 of those in Dubbo.
Victoria has recorded 55 local cases of COVID-19 overnight, including six mystery cases. Thirty were infectious in the community.
Melbourne’s outbreak spread to regional Victoria, with six new cases identified in Shepparton this afternoon.
Premier Dan Andrews warned the state was on the brink of losing control of the outbreak.
The ACT recorded 12 new cases, 11 linked to known cases and one mystery case.
Australia has evacuated 160 people from Kabul, the PM said, and the situation on the ground remains dangerous.
More than 6 million Australians are now fully vaccinated.
