No need for another tax cut for a decade

The next new tax cut could be at least a decade away after Treasury’s Pre-Election Economic and Fiscal Outlook (PEFO) released on Wednesday found the Morrison government’s tax speed limit will not be reached for almost a decade.

The Coalition has a rule that tax revenue cannot exceed 23.9 per cent of GDP. Labor has refused to adopt the rule if elected, exposing it to attacks that it is giving itself the green light to raise taxes if elected.
