Two-way, quarantine-free travel between Australia and New Zealand could start within weeks, with negotiations over management of new COVID-19 outbreaks and sluggish vaccine rollouts continuing.

Trade and Tourism Minister Dan Tehan said on Friday a resumption of trans-Tasman travel should be in place in coming weeks, with a final decision in the hands of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
