New laws to make federal algorithms and AI explainable

People affected by government automated decisions will be able to review decisions and departments will be required to explain how algorithms and artificial intelligence work, under new transparency laws to cover all federal agencies.
The new regime aims to remove bias in data-driven algorithms and business rules and to ensure safe and ethical decisions.
