Nationals deputy leader David Littleproud is talking to colleagues about a possible bid to replace Barnaby Joyce, with the junior Coalition partner set to push for more positions in the opposition shadow ministry.

Former leader Michael McCormack, Victorian MP Darren Chester and Mr Littleproud are among possible contenders to replace Mr Joyce if he is challenged for the top job at a party room meeting expected as soon as next week.
