We note Peter Wertheim’s recognition that the problems at the University of Sydney would not be solved by the dismissal of the vice chancellor (“Jewish groups split over uni boss’ exit”).
While this recognition is welcome, it is accompanied by a more insidious program to delegitimise academic freedom and freedom of expression. Mr Wertheim does not seem interested in any real actions to combat racism and antisemitism, instead suggesting measures to “negate the baleful influence of the well-known postmodernist, post-colonialist, virtue-enforcing claque on that campus”.
