Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim warned Australia and the US not to drag South-East Asia into their problems with China as he reiterated his criticism of growing “China-phobia” infecting the West.
Dr Anwar said Malaysia was “fiercely independent” as South-East Asia found itself under increasing pressure to pick sides between China and the US, as well as the region’s own struggles navigating ties with Beijing.
