The Liberals have preselected former Labor councillor Carmen Lazar to take on Climate and Energy Minister Chris Bowen in the western Sydney seat of McMahon at the federal election.

Bowen and Lazar fell out ahead of the 2023 New South Wales poll when Bowen backed former Australian Federal Police agent David Saliba to contest the state seat of Fairfield, which Saliba went on to win.
