Letters: Hostility to mining, or to coal?
All mining isn’t coal mining; fossil fuel ban; uninterrupted power supply; population as a growth strategy; wrong anti-inflation levers; red tape; digital health records; Commonwealth Bank.
Professor Geoffrey Blainey is quoted as saying that the mining and natural resources industry will remain critical to Australia’s economy for the next decade (“Mining vital but public is hostile: Blainey”, February 15).
I agree, but apparently he has also said that “public opinion is more hostile or indifferent to mining than in any other decade in our history”.
