Anti-AUKUS sentiment within the Labor Party never had any more chance of success at the party’s national conference than the perennial protestors outside the Brisbane Convention Centre.
Once Anthony Albanese decided in September 2021 to immediately embrace Scott Morrison’s surprise deal on sharing nuclear-powered submarines and technology with the US and UK, Labor’s course in government was effectively set.
