Labor accused of risking super protections in test overhaul

Labor has been accused of agreeing to review the annual test of superannuation fund performance in return for funds backing its “pet causes”, which the Coalition says would trade away Australians’ rights to transparency and consumer protections over their retirement savings.

The Albanese government is considering overhauling the controversial annual testing regime of super funds’ returns after industry heavyweights told Treasurer Jim Chalmers on Tuesday that it discouraged investment in the green energy transition.
