More than $1 billion in questionable JobKeeper payments have been identified by Tax Office audits, including $470 million mistakenly paid out and set to be clawed back.
As the Morrison government defended its landmark pandemic wage scheme over criticism of billions in waste, Tax Commissioner Chris Jordan told Parliament on Friday about $203 million had been voluntarily repaid by firms which recorded large profits and paid executive bonuses.
