It’s a bit early to be talking about stage three tax cuts

The cuts do not kick in until July 1, 2024, which is another three federal budgets away, and less than a year before the next election is due. Jim Chalmers will need to weigh up a bunch of factors closer to that election.

One of the more pointless debates currently doing the rounds is whether the Albanese government should break an election promise and repeal the stage three tax cuts.

Because the tax cuts do not begin until July 1, 2024, which is another three federal budgets away and less than a year before the next election is due.
