‘If they choose two men, they’re morons’: grassroots Liberal leader

The leader of a grassroots movement focused on recruiting women into the Liberal Party says its parliamentarians would be morons to elect two men into the leadership and anything less than gender quotas for future candidates would be insulting.

Former Liberal staffer Charlotte Mortlock founded Hilma’s Network after the Coalition’s 2022 election loss as a forum to get more women involved with the Liberal Party and into parliament. The network was named for Hilma Molyneux Parkes, a suffragette who founded the Women’s Liberal League of NSW in 1902.
