A push inside the Coalition to freeze the superannuation guarantee at 9.5 per cent faces hurdles, with One Nation leader Pauline Hanson saying she wants the next scheduled increase of 0.5 per cent to go ahead.

Views among the other members of the Senate crossbench are varied, ranging from support for a freeze to outright opposition to revoking the legislated increases. None supported a cap at the current rate of 9.5 per cent, as some Liberal backbenchers are demanding.
