The Albanese government will attempt to force the Senate to vote this week on legislation to place the CFMEU into administration, after a series of amendments it offered on Tuesday failed to sway either the Greens or the Coalition.
With the Greens, who had not seen the government amendments, saying the administrator’s proposed powers were too strong, and the Coalition complaining they were too weak, the government, fearful that the issue could drag on for weeks, will move a motion on Wednesday to bring on a Senate vote for Thursday.
