Universities’ governing councils have been put on notice that they must make their institutions good and safe places to work and study, after a major review of higher education called for immediate action to improve their effectiveness.
Measures to improve governance and demanding boards “put a greater emphasis on higher education expertise” is one of five key actions the federal government is expected to take in response to the first draft of the universities accord to be released on Wednesday.
