The federal government has finished the parliamentary year with a legislative win after controversially securing the support of Jacqui Lambie to repeal the medevac legislation.

The Tasmanian independent gave her support after reportedly seeking a deal with the government, the details of which neither party has been prepared to disclose. It is believed, however, the government intends to take up an offer from New Zealand after a current swap deal with the United States finishes.
