The government will push its contentious Medevac repeal bill to a vote this week, with or without the support of Jacqui Lambie, if only to put Labor on the record as voting against it.
But the political potency of such a tactic is not as strong as it once was due to the public no longer regarding border protection as a top issue of concern.
