Rio de Janeiro | The Group of 20 Leaders’ Summit is on track to fall well short of its stated goals this year amid the spectre of America under Donald Trump, and so-called developing nations running interference on climate change, Russia and taxing the super rich.

Summit host Brazil is seeking support for a 2 per cent minimum tax on the world’s billionaires that would generate $US200 billion ($307 billion) to $US250 billion a year to be used to help alleviate poverty and climate change.
