Anthony Albanese has flagged going full term before calling a double dissolution election, so he could use a subsequent joint sitting of parliament to pass legislation for the $10 billion housing affordability fund.
As the Greens used the resumption of parliament to harden their resolve against passing the bill, the prime minister played down the prospect of calling an early election over the impasse.
